Yoga for Beginners

Level 1 (more relaxing for all levels). If you have never taken a Yoga class or maybe just know a few of the Asanas (Yoga Poses) then this class is for you. It will introduce you to a variety of poses and some of the philosophy of the practice of Yoga. This class focuses strongly on alignment and breath.

Mixed Level

This class is for Levels1.5 and up  Moving through the Asanas with breath and alignment focus, each class has a specifically designed sequence to ultimately open the body and relax the mind. This class is recommended for students that have practiced Yoga before and want to begin to increase their stamina in the poses by holding the poses for longer periods of time as well as going deeper in the practice of each pose. In short, this class is for people that want to take it to the next level of beginner to full fledged dedicated Yoga student. Feel free to ask me questions if you are not sure about this class being right for you.

Alignment Yoga

All levels welcome. This class is for Yoga students that want a low impact class that focuses strongly on alignment and movement. While also good for beginners this class will require the student to be in the poses for a minimum of 1-2.5 minutes. This class is about building strength, focus, awareness and structure; allowing the student to become strong and well grounded. Anyone with injuries, over 50 and beginners are welcome to take this class as well.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Flow is about finding balance in body and mind.  Hatha means “sun and moon.”  According to yoga philosophy, we each have a sun energy (strong, passionate, active, and giving) and a moon energy (soft, cool, reflective, and receptive), but through the stresses of daily life, some of these energetic qualities become too heightened while others become depleted. In Hatha Flow, we revive and rebalance these energies so that we feel centered when we leave the mat. With the breath as our guide, we move in ways that marry strength with gentleness, activity with stillness, and intensity with playful joy.  Each transition is slow and mindful, and each posture invites liberating movements before deepening into longer holds.  This style of yoga is suitable for all ages and levels of experience.

Restorative Yoga

All levels welcome. This practice is designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tensions from the body and mind. We use props to support the postures, while gently stretching and strengthening the body. This class is appropriate for students of all levels. Props are provided by the studio.

Work Week Wind Down

All levels welcome. This practice is designed to allow you the ability to release built up tension and stress from the work week. Here we fuse a few flowing poses with several Restorative Yoga poses. Just what you need to let work go and get ready for the weekend!  This class is appropriate for students of all levels. Props are provided by the studio.

Yin Yoga

This class is all about long holds and mindfulness. Sit in the poses and listen to the body while you benefit the mind and spirit. You will feel releases in the facial layer of your body as well benefit your joints in this type of class. All levels welcome but remember is is SLOW and STILL.

Slow Flow

We move slow to build heat and learn the postures…all levels welcome.

Kundalini Yoga

This class is for all levels 🙂
In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, chanting, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purifiy the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul.

Yoga Basics

This class is for all levels 🙂
Great for the beginner or the seasoned student. This class will keep it simple, introduce you to postures, props and how to be in the pose the best way for your own unique experience.  NGYC believes that good alignment helps facilitate deep awareness and will change your life.  Join this class if you want to slow it all down and really experience each pose individually in the way that is best for you. “The body is a prop for the soul, so why not support the body.” -BKS Iyengar
